In the past 10 years, mainstream western culture has seen a health food renaissance. Whereas veganism was once a fringe lifestyle choice, plant-based diets are dramatically rising in popularity, especially in metropolitan cities. Matthew Kenney has combined his vast travel, elite educational training, and passion for health to create a plant-based empire. As a leading pioneer of innovation in the plant-based lifestyle space, Matthew Kenney is highly sought after for his mastery of all things raw food and holistic well-being.

Trained at the prestigious French Culinary Institute, Kenney began his career in New York City working in various well-respected kitchens. Since then he has written 12 cookbooks, opened eight (so far) popular restaurants, created the first plant-based culinary school (Matthew Kenney Culinary) and founded a lifestyle company (Plantlab) which offers plant-based products, services, and experiences.

When Kenney opened his first restaurant, Matthew’s, in 1993, his specialties included Mediterranean and and Contemporary American Cooking. It wasn’t until 2004, after having developed a dedicated yoga practice and interest in overall wellness, that Kenney turned his attention to vegetables. Since then, he has developed a successful career as a celebrity chef, entrepreneur, author, and educator.

Matthew Kenney Culinary has helped thousands of chefs to open their own plant-based restaurants, perfect their craft, hone unmatched technical skills, and gain recognition as wellness experts. Kenney hopes to continue to teach professional chefs how limitless plant-based cooking and eating can be and in that way helping more people to experience the healing power of raw food and plant-based lifestyles.

Kenney has a presence in west Los Angeles, including a satellite of his culinary school and popular restaurant in Venice, CA called Plant Food + Wine, where he offers signature dishes that are as exquisite as they are healthy and delicious.
