You may be familiar with the power of meditation music to put you in a relaxed and deeper state of mind. But there are many visual meditation aids that work just as well. They usually incorporate meditation music as a soothing accompaniment to videos that are nothing short of mesmerizing. Sometimes these come in the form of abstract computer-generated images and patterns. But my personal favorites are those that simply present the inherent beauty and splendor of Mother Nature in all her glory: time-lapse videos.
Meditation Music & Video = Mesmerizing
If you ever need to take a 5-minute, meditative break from a busy day at work (and who doesn’t?), then pop on a good pair of headphones and allow yourself to fall into the immersive sights and sounds of time-lapse photography at its best. You can find many of them on YouTube or by doing a Google search, but you can’t go wrong with my two favorites, below.
In “Terra Sacra” (meaning “Sacred Earth”), filmmaker Sean F. White presents the results of the six years he spent photographing the world’s most exotic sacred sites, including natural wonders and ancient architecture, during his travels in 24 countries spanning all seven continents. He says,
“The six-minute film is a journey through three distinct Acts: (I) Primordial Earth (II) Past meets Present and (III) Eternal Universe. This film is a personal project to share the beauty and awe I witnessed at these locations. I hope viewers will be moved by the intangible power of our Terra Sacra.”
As a former longtime resident of the Pacific Northwest, I’m also partial to this one created by John Eklund. It’s a visual stunner and a beautiful, contemplative, meditative feast for the eyes, ears, and soul:
